Top Gun Maverick is one of the best films of 2022. In my opinion the sequel was superior to the original and was worth the 30 plus year wait. The premise for the sequel is Maverick returns to Top Gun to train the best pilots for a dangerous secret mission, with Goose’s son as one of the top candidates for the secret mission.
PROS
We get Tom Cruise who looks old, feels old as Pete Maverick Mitchell who still pisses people off and it was fantastic. There is no CG used in the film as everything they did was real or made which is rare for film to do these days. Top Gun Maverick does a good job handling the nostalgic stuff while pumping in some new stuff into it.
The emotion, and the stakes feels big as audiences will be on the edge of their seats in the final 40 minutes of the film, and not many films can do that either. If you love the film Rocky Balboa you will love Top Gun Maverick. Three writers wrote the script but Christopher McQuarrie’s writing was very recognizable to me, as he’s best known for directing and writing the Mission Impossible movies and writing one of the best sci films Edge of Tomorrow. Joseph Kosinski did fantastic job with directing a lot of the flight scenes, and fire fight/dog fight scenes.
Standout performances Tom Cruise, Miles Teller, Glen Powell, Monica Barbaro and Bashir Salahuddin. Surprise standout performance was Lewis Pullman as Bob Bob. My favorite moment was Maverick and Iceman’s reunion.
CONS
There are some stuff not needed but it doesn’t effect my enjoyment of the film.

Top Gun Maverick is the perfect movie to see on Memorial Day Weekend!! It was worth the wait!!
