Sonic The Hedhog 2 takes place a year after the first one with Sonic still learning how to be a hero and still feels alone without any friends. Doctor Robotnik (Jim Carrey) finally escape Mushroom Planet with the help of his new Alliance with Knuckles voice by Edris Elba. No Spoilers
PROS
Sonic The Hedgehog 2 is the best video game movie sequel ever! If you have grown up with the video games you will enjoy and appreciate the things Sonic 2 does. This feels like Sonic Adventures 2 in a movie, because there are so many references and nods to the sequel video game its hard not to missed. The writers and the people who worked on the sequel showed a lot of carness to video game lore and history of Sonic.
I thought Idris Elba who voiced the fan favorite Knuckles from the video games was fantastic. He had a few funny moments and was one of the standouts. Colleen O’Shaughnessey as Tails was awesome too! I was happy the Sonic and Tails chemistry worked out very well on screen. They are the Batman and Robin/Dynamic Duo of video games and it shows!
CONS
There are issues with the sequel movie. Some scenes involving the live actors was not needed in the movie because it feels like a different movie I was watching with them in it. Jim Carrey was good but not as great as the first movie. There was times I felt like he was being other characters he played before like The Riddler, and Ace Venture. Not every joke and one liner was a hit. Sometimes felt like water cooler jokes after jokes.

Despite the flaws what made the sequel great is how there’s a lot of carness by the creative people behind the sequel. highly recommended to watch this in theaters! Especially if you love video games!
