After over a year since The Mandalorian season two finale. We finally have our next live action Star Wars series The Book of Boba Fett. It’s by Jon Favreau with David Feloni and Dictector Robert Rodriguez. This standalone series is a reintroduction to fan favorite Boba Fett.
PROS
I really like the flashbacks that explains what happened and how Boba Fett survive the sands of Tatoonie of Return of the Jedi. We see a lot of cool call backs to The Return of the Jedi.
I thought Temuera Morrison is proving to be the defining Boba Fett with his performance. Ming-Na Wen as Fennec was fun to see again with her action scenes.
The practical and CG effects was fantastic in the first episode. Robert Rodriguez directing was very good in presenting a cinematicly feel.
CONS
Shifting back and forth between flashbacks an present moments is tough to do. Episode one did that which will hurt any momentum for the series to have. I think it would be better if the entire episode was a flashback that ends in the present.
Nothing from the first episode left me wanting to watch more. There’s no hook to get me excited for the next episode.
I thought the music score was weak. It is not memorable at all. Most of the present parts of the story was flat.
OVERALL 5/10
Episode One showed a lot of promise. However the shift of story between flashback and present story will hurt the potential for The Book of Boba Fett to reach.
