Eternals is the next chapter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Eternals introduces a new powerful group of godlike characters who have lived on earth for 7000 years until their mission is completed by the Celestials Arisham.
PROS
There’s a lot of great action moments that I was wowed with. Especially the opening scenes of the movie. I thought the directing by Chloe Zhao was fantastic. She did a great job with what she had to work with for a bad script.
The acting was fine. I thought the entire cast did good job with what they had to work with. I thought the standout performances was Richard Madden, Gemma Chan, Kumail Nanjiani, Ma Dong-seok, and Brian Tyree Henry. I loved the CG in this especially with the look of the Celestials.
It felt like they were testing the waters with the Celestials look before introducing Galactus in a future MCU movie.
CONS
The biggest issues with the movie was the script. There are four people who wrote the script and wanted to go in a variety of directions. Anytime the movie had momentum it got hurt with the flashbacks. It felt like the writers and producers wanted to put two stories into one movie. With that direction the story and execution fell apart.
Some of the story directions for Kingo played by Kumail Nanjiani and Ikaris played by Richard Madden did not make any sense for their conclusion at the end of the story.
If you’re a fan of Salma Hayek you will be disappoint with her conclusion to the story. There are not enough character development written to make audiences care about these characters.
OVERALL: 5/10
I am not sure if this was the worse Marvel Studios movie I’ve seen yet. However it is two stories in one movie. However it will have audience thinking a lot about what they watch. This will be a movie that will split the audiences. Also there is two ending credits. One is a med credit and one is a post credit scene.
