REVIEW: Batman The Long Halloween Part One

Batman The Long Halloween Part one, is base on the hit graphic novel written by Jeph Loeb and illustrated by Tim Sale. Batman The Long Halloween is base on the early days of a young Bruce Wayne as Batman, who is trying to stop a serial killer name Holiday who murders on each Holiday of the month related to a mob gang war Batman is trying to prevent. The story is a unofficial sequel to Batman Year One by Frank Miller. NO SPOILERS

PROS

The same animation style used in the Superman and JSA animated movies is perfect for this Batman animated movie, because it reminded me of a fresh modern take of Batman the animated series back in the day. The Dark backgrounds is perfect for this new version of Batman. Jensen Ackles who voices Batman/Bruce Wayne did a great job voicing the character, because his voice had a presence and A demand when Batman is talking to another character.

If there was another runner up to who can voice the Joker it would be Troy Baker. He is fantastic as voicing the Joker as always. He has a scary playfulness with the Joker who is having to much fun. The late Naya Rivera was fantastic as Selina Kyle/Catwoman. She brought the thrill seeking sexiness with her voice for the character. I enjoyed the chase between Batman and Catwoman as we always need a chase between these two characters.

As for the rest of the voice cast Josh Duhamel (Harvey Dent), Billy Burke (Jim Gordon), and Jack Quaid (Alberto Falcone) all did a fantastic job bringing these characters voices to life. As for the story it does respect a lot of the graphic novel and even though this is a new DCAU movies the story adds some new stuff without hurting the main story.

CONS

My only nit-pick is that I wish we had Shirley Walker’s Batman animated series music score because it would mat this animation tone for this Batman.

OVERALL: 10/10

Easily one of the best adaptations of a Batman graphic novel since TDKR and Batman Year One. I highly recommend Batman fans to watch Batman The Long Halloween Part one as Part Two will be coming out next month. There is a post credit scene for part one so make sure to watch!
