TV REVIEW: Lucifer Season 5 Part 1

Finally the Devil we all love and could not wait to return to Netflix for a 5th season is finally back. Lucifer staring Tom Ellis is back for season 5 with the first part of season 5 that is now release. The second part of Lucifer season 5 will be release on Netflix by the end of 2020. For now we have eight brand new episodes from season 5. Season 5 brings new surprises and reveals for this season. Minor Spoilers….

PROS

For this season we go back to the family drama of Lucifer’s family, by introducing the Arch Angel Michael who is played by our star Tom Ellis. I enjoyed Tom’s portrayal of Michaels, because he gives the character his own voice, his own poster and a different fashion style compare to how he portrayed Lucifer. I was happy to see they gave Ella played by Aimee Gracia more to do this season compared to last season. With how part one of Season five concluded I am looking forward to see what happens next with her story. I like in of the episodes we watch Amenadiel played by D.B Woodside who teams up with Chloe (Lauren German) on a case involving nuns. It was a fun episode and was a character arch for his character. What I love abut this season we see story arks for Ella, Maze(Lesley-Ann Brandt), and Amenadiel. We learn something new about our favorite characters in every other episode. I enjoyed Maze this season and I like we learn something new about her origin story involving her mom and Lucifer.

This season theme was about free will, and over coming inner fears. The good thing about this season is that the switch with Michael pretending to be Lucifer is very short and the story moves forward very quickly. This season did not drag out with some story points, they get to the point and move forward with the next story point. This only the first half of season five, and with how the end of the first half of season 5 ended on a huge cliffhanger. Will have the second half become even crazier and fun. Lucifer finally pays off to the long awaited Lucifer and Chloe relationship, with a surprise twist

CONS

Some of this season becomes predictable with some story points. That is a nitpick of mine especially when it comes to solving the murder’s. I wasn’t a fan of the fuller noire episode but it does tie into something with the current story for Maze.

OVERALL: 9/10

Season 5 is a lot better compared to season five. We see story arcs for characters like Ella, Maze, and Amenadiel for this season and I am happy to see that. Season five is very refreshing and feels like the show is back in the right direction. Can’t wait for the second half of season five. The show ends on a huge cliff hanger that will have long time Lucifer fans very excited for the second half of Season five. Season five of Lucifer is currently number one on Netflix. If you haven’t watch Lucifer yet go watch this show!
