DC Fandome own and broke the internet all day yesterday. We get our first introduction to James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad movie with two videos. The first is the intro to who the actors will be playing in The Suicide Squad, and the next video is a featurette on the set of The Suicide Squad with all of the actors talking about the movie and describe their experiences as being onset of a war movie. This is probably the second anticipate movie for me to see next year after The Batman, because I am a huge fan of James Gunn’s work and he is the right guy for a team of misfits to work together in a movie.
The first footage is The Suicide Squad Roll Call which is an introduction of the amount of characters that will be featured in The Suicide Squad movie.
One of the surprising reveals is Idris Elba will be playing Bloodsport not Bronze Tiger like many people wold thought. It does make sense he is playing Bloodsport since he was rumored to play Deadshot but Will Smith could return in another sequel to play Deadshot again. It is very easy to change the role for Idris Elba’s character with Bloodsport. Another thing I am happy is James Gunn is not shying away from comic book look accuracy for his Suicide Squad movie. Everyone is wearing a costume that mirrors their comic book counterpart from the comic books. Even Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn looks like Harley Quinn by wearing the classic Red and Black colors which was something missing in her movie that came out this year. She looks like Harley Quinn and hopefully with James Gunn help he can place her character in a better direction than her own movie did for her. The other returning cast members is Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang.
The new characers for this movie is Idris Elba as Bloodsport, David Dastmalchian as Polkadot Man, John Cena as Peace Maker, Daniela Melchior as the Ratcatcher 2.0, Nathan Fillion, Michael Rooker, and Pete Davidson all playing as an unknown low level villain characters. Sean Gunn plays the Wassel another low level villain. Taika Waititi is rumored to be in the Suicide Squad movie but his character was not revealed and neither was the voice actor for King Shark.
We did get a featurette trailer of the cast on set of The Suicide Squad discussing their experiences with some real footage of The Suicide Squad movie. It is very clear this is going to be very different from the first movie, and it will taking a little more serious with a storied driven direction for these characters. The most important thing the actors keep telling the audiences do not get attached with these characters.
So far The Suicide Squad is very promising to be a much better movie than David Ayer’s Suicide Squad movie. There is a lot of rumors on social media that the well known villain Starro will be the main villain for James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad. It is just a rumor for now but like I said Taika Waititi is featured in the movie for an unknown role and he has put his voice in characters before. What we know is that this Suicide Squad move will not have any connection the other Suicide Squad movie that came out in 2016. However it is still await and see since we don’t have official trailer. James Gunn Suicide Squad will be released August 2nd 2021.
