For the many general people out there, who do not follow comic book movie news. I decided to write an article for the comic book movie fans who are curious to know when wlil be seeing the next DC movies that are officially release to come out between now and the end of 2021. There’s been a lot of quiet news a bout DC movies, because the DCTV medium has been breaking news lately because of Crisis on Infintie Earths. Here are the next 5 DC movies that are set to be release between now and the end of 2021.
The Joker Set to be release 10/04/2019
The Joker Staring Joaquin Phoenix as Arthur Fleck/Joker. The Joker movie is set to be the first of supposedly many DC Eleseworld or DC Black movies that are for directors and writers who want to do their own DC stories without following the main source mythology from DC Comics. Recently Todd Philips release the synopsis for his Joker movie. The synopsis for the story is Arthur Fleck, who is indelibly portrayed by Joaquin Phoenix, is of a man struggling to find his way in Gotham’s fractured society. A clown-for-hire by day, he aspires to be a stand-up comic at night…but finds the joke always seems to be on him. Caught in a cyclical existence between apathy and cruelty, Arthur makes one bad decision that brings about a chain reaction of escalating events in this gritty character study.
For long time Batman fans do not expect this to be anything close to the Batman mythology from the comic books or other mediums. It is it’s own take on Joker without following anything before hand. I highly recommend fans who go see The Joker movie to go in with an open mind, because the movie is rumored to have a few controversial story points that will upset Batman fans or Comic Book fans who love DC Comics.
Birds of Prey Movie set to be release 02/07/2020
We have yet to get our first official trailer for the next DCEU movie Birds of Prey that is set to come out 6 months from now. It stars Margot Robbie who returns as Harley Quinn from David Ayer’s Suicide Squad movie. It will feature Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Diana Lance/Black Canery, and Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Helena Bertinelli/ The Huntress as the two main superheroes and 2 of the 3 founding members of Birds of Prey from the DC comic book world. It will feature a young Cassandra Cain played by new comer Ella Jay Basco, and the main villain will be Black Mask played by Ewan McGregor with secondary villain Mr. Zasz played by Chris Messina.
Birds of Prey is suppose to be an all women’s comic book movie and the first DCEU rated R movie. According to wegotthiscovered.com the prescreening of Birds of Prey was viewed very positive by the audiences who are lucky to see the film. McGregor’s Black Mask, and Jurnee Smollett’s Black Canary are the highlights by the audiences. I am hoping with It: Chapter Two coming out in 3 weeks we will have our first official trailer of the movie attached to the horror sequel. It: Chapter Two is a Warner Brother’s movie and it would make perfect sense for the movie to have a Birds of Prey trailer attached to it since it will be less than 6 months from now when It: Chapter Two movie hits. The Premise according to Wikipedia has the Birds of Prey taking place sometime after Justice League and Aquaman, with Batman who disappeared from Gotham City with other heroes of Gotham protecting the city from crime. Harley Quinn and Joker breaks up, with Harley Quinn on her own but is in a crossfire between Black Mask trying to recover a a diamond from Cassandra Cain who Harley comes across. Harley gets involved, and assist with The Huntress and Black Canary in protecting Cassandra Cain from Black Mask. The story and script is written by Christina Hodson who is best known for writing the Bumble Bee movie.
Wonder Woman 1984 is set to be released 06/05/2020
Originally Wonder Woman 1984, was suppose to be release around November 2019, however it was pushed back to Summer 2020. Gal Godot returns as the Amazon Princess Diana /Wonder Woman. She returns with Chris Pine as Steve Trevor, with Pedro Pascal rumored as Maxwell Lord, and Kristen Wiig as the Wonder Woman’s main villain from the comic books Cheetah. Patty Jenkins returns as the director for the sequel. The premises of Wonder Woman 1984, is under wrapped. With how Wonder Woman the movie concluded the biggest mystery is how Steve Trevor returns from the first movie. We have yet to get a teaser for Wonder Woman 1984 as it is rumored to be finished according to Patty Jenkins as she wished it would go back to the original release date of November 2019. The Batman is set to be Released 6/25/2021
The Batman is set to star Robert Patterson as the next Batman/Bruce Wayne . The movie will focus on a younger Batman and will showcase his detective skills to solve a murderer mystery story. According to Matt Reeves who is the writer and director of The Batman movie will have a noire take but it is not an origin movie of Batman. rumored has it it will have 6 Batman villains featured in the movie. The Penguin is rumored to be the main villain. With Fire Fly, Catwoman, Two-Face, and The Riddler to be featured in the movie.
The Batman movie is set to go into production in early January 2020. Expect to hear more rumors and hopefully casting announcements for Matt Reeve’s The Batman movie leading into the new year.
The Suicide Squad is set to be released in 08/06/2021
James Gunn who is best known for the Guardians of Galaxy franchise is set to rejuvenated David Ayer’s disaster Suicide Squad movie from 2016 with his relaunch of the group titled The Suicide Squad movie. James Gunn is the writer and director of The movie. Margot Robbie, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney and Joel Kinnaman are all set to return for the sequel movie as Harley Quinn, Amanda Waller, Captain Boomerang, and Rick Flag. They will join new cast members Idris Elba who is playing an unknown character, John Cena as Peacemaker, David Dastmalchian and Daniela Melchior will play Polka-Dot Man and Ratcatcher. Rumored has in Benicio del Toro will be playing the main villain known as The General in the sequel movie.

Do not expect a Batman appearance from the sequel. Will Smith will not be back as Deadshot, and Jared Leto will not return as the Joker. The movie is set to be inspired by some of the older Suicide Squad comic book stories. The Suicide Squad movie is rumored to be a relaunch and not a sequel to David Ayer’s Suicide Squad movie from 2016.
DC MOVIES BEYOND 2021
No official word on what will becoming from DC/Warner Brothers in 2022 or beyond for DC Comic book movies. Aquaman sequel, Shazam Sequel, and The Rock’s Black Adam movies are rumored to come out sometime in 2022 and 2023. With the construction set to ruin mountains in Hawaii Jason Momoa was JOKINGLY telling news outlets there’s no Aquaman sequel. With the critical success of Shazam! David F. Sandberg is set to return for the sequel of Shazam! Warner Brothers wants a sequel sooner than later because of the child stars who could old grow their roles from the first film. The sequel will not have Black Adam as the villain. The Rock’s Black Adam is set to go in production sometime late in 2020 according to the producer who said to Cinemablend.com. Geoff Johns and his Mad Dog productions are still responsible for writing the script for the Green Lantern or Green Lantern Corps movie. No news or rumors on when we will hear anything on a Green Lantern movie or rumored Green Lantern Corps. The Flash movie in my opinion is back into development of hell., with both directors John Frances Daley, and Jonathan Goldstein out as directors to focus on Dungeons and Dragons live action movie. I know we heard rumors of It franchise director Andy Muschietti possibly directing the movie with Ezra Miller still attached to star as Barry Allen/The Flash. He is on record from many websites he plans to take a break from directing after It: Chapter Two. With The Flash CW series still running on tv I doubt will be seeing a Flash movie anytime soon. As for a Superman movie, expect Superman to be on TV for awhile because a Superman movie in my opinion is not happening anytime soon.
