The final movie of Fox’s X-Men series ends with Dark Phoenix. With all the negativity surrounding the final movie by critics. Is it the worst X-Men movie ever made by Fox or is it at least a watchable movie that movie audience can at least enjoy. (MINOR SPOILERS)

PROS

This is the most Cyclops we’ve seen in a Fox X-Men movie. I did enjoy watching a lot of Cyclops in this movie, because I am a fan of the character from the comic books and TV series. There is some decent moments in the movie, and I did like the movie taking place in 1992, which is a nod to when the X-Man animated series came out. There’s a lot of cool action scenes that feels like it is an the X-Men movie. I did like The X-Men are established, and are accepted by society. I did enjoy the action scenes from the Phoenix, and the past characters like Professor Xavier, and Magneto. I thought Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp presented a decent performance as Jean Grey, Cyclops, and Storm. The first 20 minutes of the movie is good and shows some promise of an entertaining X-Men movie. It was nice to see Evan Peter as Quick Silver for a short time, and we get a Dazzler cameo if you are a hardcore comic book X-Men fan.

CONS

There is a big continuity issue if you have watch X-Men Apocalypse in terms of how Jean becomes the Phoenix. It feels like all the past actors and actress such as James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, and Nicholas Hoult who’ve been part of the X-Men franchise since First Class. Are done with this franchises, and most of it shows from their performances. In X-Men Apocalypse Jennifer Lawrence in my opinion made it clear she was done with this franchise and it show’d in her performance from that movie, and her performance became very worse in Dark Phoenix. There ‘s a lot of bad dialog in this film that I thought was cringing. The bad dialog comes from a variety of characters in Dark Phoenix. Don’t expect your favorite X-Men characters like Wolverine, Colossus, Gambit, Deadpool, Rogue, Jubliee to make a cameo. The movie in my opinion feels like it does not have a solid conclusion to end the Fox’s X-Men franchise. The villain who is Vuk played by Jessica Chastain I thought did not present her motivations as to why she wanted the Phoenix. I felt like the writing from Simon Kinberg who wrote Last Stand did not know how to write this villain, and is wasted by someone as talented like Jessica Chastain in this movie.

OVERALL 5.5/10

In my opinion this is not the worst X-Men movie from Fox. Dark Phoenix is a watchable entertaining X-Men movie, but I did not feel emotional connect to this movie with these characters. The worse X-Men movie is a tie between X-Men: The Origin of Wolverine, and Simon Kinberg other disappointing movie that he wrote which was X-Men: The Last Stand. However Simon Kinberg did co-write X-Men Days of Future Past, and X-Men Apocalypse. I do not know how he made continuity errors with Dark Phoenix. I know they had to re-shoot the 3rd act because it had a similar ending to another recent superhero movie, that is easily part of the issue with how the conclusion ends for Dark Phoenix and the franchise ends. There is no Wolverine, and Gambit who have a giant following with comic book and X-Men fans and is easily another reason as to why audiences might be turn off from this movie. Now that the Fox franchise is finally over, I think it would be best if Marvel Studios or Kevin Feige gives this franchise a 5 year break before reintroducing them in the MCU. I highly recommend audiences to wait for Dark Phoenix to be on a digital rental and save your 15 bucks.
