What we know about the Titans series from the Trailer and Geoff Johns

It’s been over 24 hours since the mixed Titans trailer has been released. I’ve heard many different opinion on everyone who’ve seen the trailer. People like it and people hate it. Regardless Warner Brothers and DC Entertainment got everyone talking about this series. Base on what we’ve seen on 2 minutes of a trailer her is what we now know what the first season will be.

It’s a Dark and Gretty hardcore series.

With the now famous quote from Robin “fuck Batman,” the trailer does it’s job in displaying how hardcore the dark and gretty the series will display throughout the first season. Titans will not hold back on the violence we seen in the trailer from Robin, Starfire, Hawk and Dove. The tone, actions, and look of the series is the biggest concern fans have, after watching the teaser trailer. I do like to point out if the audiences pay close attention to the Robin gun scene, Robin shoots a flesh wound to all the thugs in that scene in the trailer. He doesn’t kill anyone, but he does fights brutal as he breaks someone’s jaw.

Dick Grayson semi retired and fallout with Batman.

When we first see Raven meet Dick Grayson, he appears to be a Detective probably in Bludhaven, and at a crossroads in life, because his fallout with Batman has semi retired him from being a vigilante. What ever happens in the pilot episode will push Dick Grayson to become Robin once more, an as seen in trailer Dick will have to deal with the affiliation to Batman when he’s Robin.

It’s rumored Batman will have a huge presences in Titans Season one, according to Geoff Johns yesterday from polygon.com, who open up a little bit about The Titans after the first trailer was released, said Dick Grayson fallout with Batman will be a center for Dick Grayson character development in season one. According Geoff Johns,“ It does make you go, ‘Why is he saying [Fuck Batman?]’ If you look at when Robin first left Batman in the comics, there was a lot of uneasiness and him being lost.” It’s going to be interesting to see if Batman fired Dick like in Nightwing Year One, or something different. The mantle of Robin will always be affiliated to Batman, and it will be one of the reason with Dick goes from Robin to Nightwing.

Raven and Dick Grayson

The two centered characters revealed in the Titans trailer for Season one is Raven and Dick Grayson. It appears like in New Teen Titans by Wolfman and Perez Raven is the one who will bring the Titans together in the series.

What will be different according to Brenton who plays Dick Grayson, his relationship with Raven will mirror his mentor relationship with Batman. The trailer fully displays some of the the mentorship Dick showswhile he interacts with Raven. Like in the first few issues in the new Teen Titans Raven needs help from Dick Grayson because of her father Trigon. It appears Beast Boy and Starfire will not be heavily focused in the first season.

Where is Cyborg?

It’s been confirm Cyborg will not be in Titans Season one, however he will appear in Doom Patrol live action series next year. Doom Patrol and Titans series will be in a shared universe. There is a episode from Titans called Doom Patrol and I’m sure we will get a reference related to Victor Stone or his father to build excitement for the Doom Patrol series.

The looks

Robin, Raven, Hawk, Dove looked great, and Beast Boy will be green as shown in trailer while Starfire is still cringing to watch. I’m hoping the acting and execution by the actress and writing from the show over looks Starfires first live action appearance. Rumors are that Garfield Logan will slowly evolved into Beast Boy in each episode and will become more green. As for Starfire she still remains unknown to how she fits into the story.

Not the Teen Titans animated series

The biggest outcry from fans and general audience is the comparison of the animated series to the live show. A lot of audience were introduced to Teen Titans by the animated series and I get it. I did enjoy the Teen Titans animated series, but I grew up reading the new Teen Titans by Wolfman and Perez. I was very irritated with Teen Titans because of the changes they made to the animated series. We as fans are always going to complain about something not done the way we hope for because we are very passionate with what we love, cherish, and enjoy in a media outlets. I m sure the second trailer will change peoples feelings about the series because a lot of the tease trailer did not look fully complete.

Season one is a Origin/Identity Story.

The trailer displays this is a tale of young characters who are evolving and are at a crossroads in life as thry try to find an identity. It’s shown in the trailer with Dick Grayson and Raven. Geoff Johns yesterday with interview from polygon.com says “Titans is really a series about these different characters that are all lost in their lives; just like the greatest comic book Titans run ever, by Marv Wolfman and George Pérez, it’s about all these lost characters find one another, and they’re all struggling with something.” Geoff Johns is one of the creators and writers on the series, and tho the trailer didn’t give us a whole lot, he confirm the two Teen Titans titles from the 60s and New Teen Titans will be very strong influence for the series.

Guest Characters Confirm

Geoff Johns, also confirms Donna Troy and a young Jason Todd makes an appearance on Season one. One of the episodes of season one is called “Jason Todd” so it’s not a secret He will be a special guest. Donna Troy was leaked to be in the series months ago because of a leak video on set. Jason Todd will be played by Curran Walters, and Donna Troy will be played by Conor Leslie. No informtion on the roles they will play in season one besides guest appearance. Geoff Johns did tease Superboy and Lex Luthor will be featured in the series as well. It’s been rumored Superboy the Connor Kent version will be featured in the season finale.

Hopefully there will be a second trailer drop before this is release on the DC Universe app to give audiences a display of what season one is about. If you want to read the full interview from polygon.com with Geoff Johns click below.
